MACH FIBER SOLUTIONS

HELPING YOU REACH FIBER QUALITY STANDARDS

The recycling world is constantly changing. With the additional challenges of export markets, Machinex is supporting their customers by offering solutions to increase the quality and recovery of various commodities.

Specifically, we have been focused on helping achieve quality on fiber for domestic and export markets.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:
  • Increase fiber quality
  • Increase recovery on recyclables
  • Reduce contamination
  • Reduce maintenance cost
  • Reduce labor

4 STEP APPROACH

Achieving marketable fiber quality is not necessarily the job of a single piece of equipment and requires in-depth analysis of several key factors. Machinex offers a solution that includes the following four key elements to achieve maximum purity and unmatched recovery. However, since no two cases are alike, the solutions may differ according to your actual operational needs. Each of these components can be integrated individually or in various combinations.
OCC SCREEN
SCALPING SCREEN
BALLISTIC SEPARATOR
OPTICAL SORTER

STEP 1:

First equipment of the system that has a real impact on the material separation

MACH OCC SCREEN

The New Generation

An improved version of the MACH OCC Screen to answer the evolving needs of the market. Requires much less maintenance and improves the cardboard recovery rate. This equipment can be retrofitted in any system.

FEATURES & BENEFITS
  • Larger, square-shaped shafts greatly diminish wrapping
    • Section OCC - Steady performances
    • Major savings in cleaning time and operational cost
  • Revised steel disc shape with hardfacing: Results in very little to no wear

  • Increase OCC/OBB recovery between
    15% to 30%

Up to 30%

Improved cardboard recovery

Up to 65%

Cleaning time reduction

< 1 YEAR

ROI

STEP 2:

Prevents small fraction contamination at the beginning of the system

SCALPING SCREEN

Can be integrated within the OCC Screen or as stand-alone equipment

An essential step to remove the small single serve and other material from the paper stream.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

Prevents Contamination:

  • Takes single serve and high value containers away from contaminating the newspaper stream
  • Takes out the broken glass and a high portion of small materials
  • Diverts the small materials to the finishing equipment
  • Reduces the burden in the newspaper sorting equipment which increases capacity and sorting performance while decreasing contamination

Features:

  • A 5” minus screen equipped with highly abrasion-resistant metal discs

  • Revised version with bigger shafts to reduce wrapping

Up to 90%

Of 5”minus are diverted straight to the finishing equipment, which then allows the newspaper sorting equipment to be more efficient

STEP 3:

Separate rigid from flexible materials

MACH BALLISTIC SEPARATOR

Versatile screening equipment that doesn’t wrap

Contrary to popular belief, NOT only CAN but WILL do a better job than a traditional ONP and finishing screens.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

No wrapping:

  • Reduces downtime & cleaning time
  • Steady performances

No rubber discs:

  • Reduces maintenance costs
  • Improves performance consistency

Increases the fiber recovery:

  • Up to 15% compared to a traditional finishing disc screen

  • Easier integration into an existing system compared to an ONP screen

100%

Maintained tolerance results in very high recovery of UBC & single serve containers

STEP 4:

Clean the fiber and reduce labor

MACH HYSPEC

Optical Sorter - Fiber cleaning

The MACH Hyspec optical sorter is the key piece of equipment to help you comply with domestic and export standards.
Used at the end of the process to clean the fiber stream, the optical sorter can do positive (eject on paper) or negative (eject on paper contaminants) ejections that can be adjusted depending on the operator’s needs.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

Cleans newspaper:

  • Removes OCC/OBB, metals, film & rigid plastics
  • Reduces or eliminates sorters on fiber QC
  • Great improvement on final fiber product quality

Cleans mixed fiber:

  • Removes metals, film & rigid plastics

Up to 90%

THE UPGRADE EXPERT

At Machinex, we are recognized as experts in the modernization of sorting centers. We master the art of integrating new equipment into an existing system. No matter the configuration, our designers will find creative solutions to meet your needs while respecting your budget.

Our installation team has developed unique methods for the most complex projects, all while minimizing the customer’s downtime.

Machinex met our installation window of two weeks by having crews working around the clock until the project was completed. They carefully planned the integration into our existing system and the impact on the rest of the equipment. Every part of the upgrade was planned and triple checked to ensure an efficient demo phase, install and startup.

Francis Veilleux

President, Bluewater Recycling Association

Machinex made a concerted effort to install the additional equipment in a manner that would minimize disruption to the operation.

Kate Davenport

Co-president, Eureka Recycling

We are extremely happy with the Machinex team; everyone did a fantastic job over the long weekend and really exceeded our expectation! The crew was great to work with as well as super-efficient on all aspects of the job. They worked well with our team and always put safety first. As far as the OCC Screen – early results are very positive. The equipment is well built and the attention to detail that Machinex puts into building the equipment is second to none. Everything from design, to maintenance friendly access into the equipment, to ease of interfacing with our existing equipment.
