AQRCB ENDS 2024 BY SIGNING A MAJOR AGREEMENT WITH MACHINEX DEPOSIT
Montreal, December 18, 2024 – The Quebec Beverage Container Recovery Association (AQRCB/Consignaction) has announced a major agreement with the manufacturer Machinex Consigne to equip Consignaction return locations, Consignaction+ sites, and Consignaction Zones at retailers. This agreement represents a significant milestone in AQRCB/Consignaction’s efforts throughout 2024 to establish Quebec’s deposit return system as a high-performing global benchmark.
The deployment of these new technologies will integrate cutting-edge innovations to enhance user experience, offering a simple and efficient process. Selected solutions include MACH Countainer™ units, a technology developed by Machinex that leverages artificial intelligence, along with kiosks and automated reverse vending machines. This technology streamlines customer experience by enabling rapid container identification using AI, capable of processing hundreds of containers per minute, drastically reducing return time without compromising efficiency. By signing this agreement, AQRCB/Consignaction reaffirms its commitment to supporting a green and circular economy.
“I am proud of this agreement, which marks an important milestone in modernizing the deposit return system. The partnership announced today with Machinex Consigne highlights the expertise we have developed together to position Quebec as a global leader in deposit return systems,” said Normand Bisson, President and CEO of AQRCB/Consignaction.
“AQRCB is currently deploying a modern, highly technological beverage container management system, and we are proud to contribute. For 40 years, Machinex has been dedicated to technological innovation in recycling, convinced that tailored technological solutions are essential to making recycling easier for citizens. We are delighted to participate in the modernization of the deposit return system alongside AQRCB and to contribute to its vision of orderly, pragmatic, and efficient modernization. As a Quebec-based company, we value local development and homegrown innovation. Being selected for this project in our own backyard is a tremendous source of pride and motivation for our team. We look forward to working with AQRCB once again,” said Jonathan Ménard, Vice President of Sales and Strategy at Machinex.
