The end of the pilot project for the deposit container recovery kiosk in Victoriaville.

June 19, 2023 – The pilot project for the deposit container recovery kiosk located in Victoriaville came to an end this past Sunday, June 4, 2023.

Since its launch in October 2022, this kiosk has garnered significant interest and active participation from the citizens, retailers, and merchants of Victoriaville. In light of the impending modernization of the deposit system, this pilot project underscored the importance of implementing convenient and accessible collection infrastructures to encourage participation in the collection of deposit containers.

In just under 7 months of operation, the kiosk collected just over 1,500,000 deposit containers, aligning perfectly with the initial project estimates.

We would like to thank all the participants who contributed to the success of this pilot project. Their commitment and support were crucial in assessing the effectiveness and relevance of this new collection model. Their active involvement demonstrated their desire to contribute to a modernized and sustainable deposit system.

This practical solution provided retailers with an efficient alternative for managing the collection of containers in a dedicated space, thus avoiding the space constraints associated with managing deposit containers within their establishments.

The success of this pilot project underscores the importance of continuing to develop innovative solutions to move towards a modern deposit system in Quebec.
