TRICENTRIS CHOOSES MACHINEX TO MODERNIZE ITS MRFS IN QUEBEC
Plessisville, December 2, 2025 – Machinex is proud to announce that it has been awarded the contract to modernize three Tricentris sorting facilities, located in Lachute, Gatineau, and Terrebonne. These cooperative projects represent an important step in advancing curbside recycling across Quebec.
Machinex, a 100% Quebec-based company internationally recognized for its expertise in designing and manufacturing automated sorting equipment, has been a long-standing partner of the cooperative. By choosing Machinex, Tricentris combines local expertise with innovation, reaffirming its commitment to Quebec’s economy while investing in cutting-edge technologies developed in the province.
“Tricentris is one of the organizations that has shaped Quebec’s recycling industry, and we are proud that Machinex has once again been chosen to support them in these three ambitious modernization projects for their MRFs,” said David Marcouiller, Vice President of Sales Engineering at Machinex. “Since their very first sorting facility in 1997, Tricentris has placed its trust in us, and this renewal is a testament to our teams’ expertise and an opportunity to continue advancing curbside recycling here in Quebec.”
Beyond supplying equipment, Machinex provides Tricentris with an integrated approach that includes R&D, engineering, automation, and after-sales service. This comprehensive expertise enables the design of sorting centers tailored to their needs while optimizing performance, reliability, and operational efficiency. This close collaboration will provide Tricentris with solutions designed in Quebec to sustain a new cycle of modernization.
The modernization will bring significant upgrades to the cooperative’s sorting infrastructure. A total of 17 new key pieces of equipment, including Mach Hyspec® optical sorting systems and SamurAI® robots, will be added to existing installations. In addition, two aging optical sorting units in Gatineau and one in Terrebonne will be replaced.
“This strategic investment strengthens Tricentris’ position as a leader in Quebec’s circular economy,” said Dany Dumont, General Manager of Tricentris. “It marks a key milestone in our commitment to modernizing our infrastructure and maximizing the value of recyclable materials for the benefit of our communities.”
Once the work is completed, Tricentris will operate 26 key automated pieces of equipment across its three sorting centers. This evolution will enable the organization to meet the quality and performance standards required by Éco Entreprises Québec and the Government of Quebec as part of the province’s curbside recycling modernization initiative.
