MACHINEX NAMED LARGE BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AT THE 40TH PANTHÉON DE LA PERFORMANCE
Plessisville, May 5, 2025 – On May 2, Machinex was awarded the Large Business of the Year prize during the 40th edition of the Panthéon de la performance, an event organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bois-Francs and L’Érable. This honor recognizes the company’s dedication, innovation, and continuous growth, proudly rooted in Plessisville for 55 years. Known for its expertise in the design, manufacturing, and installation of sorting systems, Machinex today shines on a global scale.
“Being recognized at the Panthéon de la performance as the Large Business of the Year is a tremendous honor,” said Pierre Paré, President and CEO of Machinex. “This award is meaningful for our entire team, it’s a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come. We started small, grew within our sector, learned a great deal, and most importantly, learned to trust ourselves. Thank you to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bois-Francs and L’Érable for this recognition,” added Mr. Paré.
A Year of Major Milestones
A 100% Quebec-owned company, Machinex operates from Plessisville, where it has preserved its culture of innovation and local pride. The tireless work of the past five decades has enabled the company to share homegrown expertise that generates real impact across the globe. By putting people, quality, and innovation at the core of its development, Machinex continues to pave the way toward a more responsible future.
The year 2024 marked a pivotal moment, with both major international projects and strong community-focused initiatives.
Les Petits M: A Daycare Changing Daily Life
Just a few blocks from its headquarters, Machinex opened Les Petits M daycare, an initiative designed to meet a real need for both employees and the community. Amid a widespread shortage of childcare spaces, the company aimed to ease the work-family balance by offering 85 subsidized spots in an environment that supports children’s emotional and educational development in a calm, caring, and stimulating setting.
Each day, a skilled chef prepares three varied menus, meat, fish, or vegetarian. The resources and educational approach in place help ease the mental load on parents while providing a rich learning environment for the children.
“The Les Petits M daycare project aligns with our mission of building a more responsible future,” said Jean-Michel Paré, Chief Operating Officer at Machinex and Project Director for the daycare’s construction. “It fits perfectly with the company’s family values. We’ve created a great atmosphere for the kids and educators, they are now part of the wider Machinex family,” he added.
A North American Landmark Sorting Center
Also in 2024, Machinex delivered the largest material recovery facility (MRF) in North America, located in Columbus, Ohio. Designed for client Rumpke Waste & Recycling, the facility boasts a remarkable 98% recovery rate and processes 60 tons of recyclable materials per hour. This $100M USD project is powered entirely by equipment developed and manufactured at Machinex’s Plessisville headquarters.
Of the facility’s total 226,000 square feet, 3,000 square feet are dedicated to interactive exhibits that educate the public and visitors about recycling. The project embodies the practical integration of circular economy values and education into a bold industrial vision.
A Visionary Path: Local Expertise, Global Reach
Before becoming a global leader in sorting technologies, Machinex was originally involved in the manufacture of agricultural equipment. In 1985, just two years after Pierre Paré joined the company, it shifted focus. In collaboration with the late Honourable Normand Maurice, Machinex developed its first sorting center in Victoriaville, a foundational project that marked the beginning of its commitment to environmental responsibility and the circular economy.
By 1989, Machinex fully dedicated itself to sorting center design. Since then, its expertise has expanded across Canada, the United States, the UK, France, and Australia. In recent years, the company has invested in growing its internal team and infrastructure to offer turnkey solutions tailored to client needs, while fostering a work environment aligned with today’s realities.
“If Machinex is making a global impact today, it’s because of one core strength: our team. Behind every innovation, every delivered sorting facility, every custom solution, lies exceptional collaboration between departments. From R&D, engineering, production, and administration to after-sales service, it’s the commitment of all these people that allows us to deliver top-tier products, keep evolving, and transform local expertise into global impact,” emphasized Pierre Paré.
